Provided is a method for detecting corrosion of a glass substrate, comprising: a step of arranging a light source, an on-off sensor, and a glass substrate; a step of setting a polarization angle (&thgr;_br) of the glass substrate with the light source and the sensor; and a step of scanning the glass substrate at the polarization angle with the light source, wherein a light emitted from the light source is p-polarized light.
