PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a partition wall for a display element, capable of changing the existence state of nonpolar liquid smoothly and stably for a long period by presence or absence of voltage to be applied.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a partition wall 13 sections a storage space formed between a first electrode layer stack 11 and a second electrode layer stack 12, and containing polar liquid 15 and nonpolar liquid 14 that are not mixed with each other. The manufacturing method includes the steps of: forming a coating film by using a photosensitive composition (1); and performing light exposure to the coating film and performing development by using alkaline developing solution (2); and performing surface treatment to a film surface after development so that a static contact angle of the nonpolar liquid on an acquired partition wall surface is within a range of 15-85° (3).
