PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus of deriving an intra prediction mode by using an MPM group and intra prediction information.SOLUTION: A method includes: constructing an MPM group that includes three intra prediction modes (S121); determining the intra prediction mode in the MPM group specified by a prediction mode index as the intra prediction mode of a current prediction unit (S123) if a mode group indicator indicates the MPM group (Yes at S122); and determining the intra prediction mode of the current prediction unit by using the prediction mode index and the three prediction modes in the MPM group (S124) if the mode group indicator does not indicate the MPM group (No at S122). Additional bits resulted from increase of the number of intra prediction modes can be effectively reduced. |
