DEVICE MANAGED ACCESS POINT LISTS IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methodologies that enable device-side access point list management.SOLUTION: Blacklists of access points unsuitable for providing network access to a related mobile device are maintained as well as whitelists of access points suitable for doing it. The lists are managed using an interface provided at the mobile device. In addition, lists are modified according to provisioned network updates. In addition, the lists are of maximum size such that older entries can be purged upon insertion of newer entries on the basis of a number of factors; timed entry deletion is provided as well. Access points in the lists are stored and presented according to various identifiers related to the access points.
