PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink and a coating, in particular an ink jet ink and a coating, for use as a thermoforming ink and a coating for printing onto a substrate that undergoes a thermoforming process.SOLUTION: An energy-curable ink or a coating composition is provided which comprises: a monofunctional urethane monomer such as a monofunctional urethane acrylate monomer, wherein the level of multifunctional monomers is less than about 1 wt.%; a monofunctional monomer; and, optionally, a colorant, photoinitiator, stabilizer, surfactant and/or a vinyl resin, and which is used as a thermoforming ink or a coating that, when printed onto a substrate 1, elongates on thermoformation of the substrate 3 to adopt the shape of a mold 2. A method of printing on a thermoforming substrate using such an ink or coating, and a printed formed article 4 are also provided. |
