PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide radio protocol suitable for a mobile communication system.SOLUTION: The invention relates to radio protocol of a mobile communication system, especially, relates to an apparatus and a method for performing protocol of a PDCP (Packet Data Convergence Protocol) layer and an RLC (Radio Link Control) layer in an E-UMTS which has evolved from UMTS. The PDCP layer encrypts data (i.e., PDCP SDU (Service Data Unit)) received from an upper layer, encrypts an indicator discriminating encrypted data and non-encrypts data (i.e., an ROHC (Robust Header Compression) feedback packet directly generated by the PDCP layer), and transmits the encrypted data to a lower layer (i.e., MAC layer) together with an indicator. A PDCP SN (Sequence Number) is defined as an algorithm for encrypting the data, to perform encrypting. |
