An organic thin film transistor containing a compound represented by the following formula (1) in a semiconductor active layer: wherein in the formula (1), X represents an S atom, an O atom or NR7; A each independently represents CR8 or a nitrogen atom; and R1 to R8 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent, provided that at least one of R1 to R8 represents a substituent.
