<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight yarn capable of providing fabric with excellent crispy feeling, lightness, air permeability, warmth retaining property, water absorption, quick-drying, anti-pilling property and fluff-falling resistance, and a fabric made of the light-weight yarn. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is a light-weight yarn, which is obtained by: twisting 20 to 98 mass% of a spinning yarn and 2 to 80 mass% of a water-soluble yarn in the same direction as the twisting direction of the spinning yarn by the number of twists 0.3 to 1.5 times the number of twists of the spinning yarn to obtain a composite twisted yarn; and dissolving and removing the water-soluble yarn from the composite twisted yarn. Also provided is a light-weight yarn, which is obtained by: twisting a spinning yarn, a water-insoluble filament yarn, a water-soluble yarn in the same direction as the twisting direction of the spinning yarn by the number of twists 0.3 to 2 times the number of twists of the spinning yarn by a ratio of 50 to 95 mass% of total of spinning yarn and water-insoluble filament yarn and 5 to 50 mass% of water-soluble yarn, and the proportion of the spinning yarn being 50 to 99 mass% and the proportion of the water-insoluble filament yarn being 1 to 50 mass% based on the total of the spinning yarn and the water-insoluble filament yarn to obtain a composite twisted yarn; and dissolving and removing the water-soluble yarn from the composite twisted yarn.
