<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device, image forming apparatus, and image processing method capable of improving the S/N ratio of a low frequency image area in image data read from a document, and preventing a deterioration in image quality of a high frequency image area.SOLUTION: An image processing method of the present invention includes the steps of: reading image data having the number of lines in the sub scanning direction double the number of lines in the sub scanning direction corresponding to output resolution, and creating first image data constituted of pieces of image data on odd-numbered lines and second image data constituted of pieces of image data on even-numbered lines (S2, and S3); comparing the pieces of image data at the same position of the first image data and second image data for each of pre-set areas (S4, and S5); and for an area having a difference between the pieces of image data equal to or more than a pre-set threshold, creating third image data by employing the first image data, and if data missing occurs in the first image data, compensating the missing part with the second image data (S6).</p> |
