A machine (1) and method for bending a long bendable elongate metal profile (2), for example a steel rod, particularly a concrete reinforcing steel rod. The machine (1) comprising a frame (3) and a bending unit (4) mounted on the frame (3) for bending the metal profile while it is guided through the bending unit (4). The frame (3) is provided movable on a support (9). When the metal profile (2) is inserted into the bending unit (4), and the metal profile (2) is fixed with respect to its longitudinal direction, the roller bending causes a dragging of the frame (3) along the metal profile (2) through pulling or pushing force exerted on the metal profile (2) by the bending unit (4).
