[Class 38 (iii)] The main motor M of an accumulator vehicle is aided during acceleration and on up gradients by an auxiliary motor M1 which drives through a 2 to 1 reduction gearing and a free wheel coupling. Acceleration from rest is effected by sequential closing of switches S1, S2, S3, and the switch S3 may be under the control of a current limit relay. The starting resistance W may be replaced by another auxiliary motor M2. |
