Breathing apparatus comprises container 24 divided by partitions 25 to provide an elongated path (container 24 may be replaced by a tube 26, see Fig. 2, not shown) connected at one end to tube 22 which is also connected to a supply of supplementary oxygen (or narcotic gas) and open to the surrounding air at the other end. On inhalation valve 14 closes exhalation tube 12, and air from reservoir 24, and supplementary oxygen passes through vapourizer 21 to entrain ether, duct 20, one way valve 18, duct 13 and inhalation tube 11 to the lungs. On exhalation, valve 14 closes duct 13 and gas is exhaled through tube 12 and one way valve 19. For forced breathing bag 16 may be connected to duct 13.</p> |
