<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boom of a work machine, which can reduce weight of a side wall of a split boom and which can reduce labor for assembly work. <P>SOLUTION: A body 20 of an insert boom 6c2 includes an overhanging part 26 which overhangs ahead of a closed cross-section configuring part 21. The overhanging part 26 has a part 26c which is configured in a range from upper edges 22c of protrusions 22b, protruding forward, of a pair of front side walls 22 between the front side walls 22 to lower edges 22d thereof, on the front side of the closed cross-section configuring part 21.
