<p>A method of delivering a cleaning solution to a cleaning pad 58 attached to a surface cleaning apparatus is also disclosed, the method comprises generating a hydrogen peroxide solution on-board the apparatus 10, providing the generated hydrogen peroxide solution to the cleaning pad 58. An associated surface cleaning apparatus 10, such as a steam mop comprises a housing adapted to be moved across a surface to be cleaned, a cleaning pad 58 attached to an underside of the housing, a fluid supply tank 40 and a hydrogen peroxide generator 60 provided with the housing in fluid communication with the supply tank 40, the hydrogen peroxide generator including a titanium dioxide surface 64, a fluid distributor 44 configured to deliver fluid from the supply tank 40 to the titanium dioxide surface 64 and an ultraviolet light source 66 configured to emit ultraviolet light directly onto the titanium dioxide surface 64, wherein the exposure of fluid on the titanium dioxide surface 64 to ultraviolet light emitted by the ultraviolet light source 66 produces a hydrogen peroxide solution that is delivered to the cleaning pad 58.</p> |
