<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce contact between metals in a latch device for vehicle and provide good operational feeling. <P>SOLUTION: A latch device 1 for vehicle locks or unlocks by hooking with or moving away from a bar-like part. The latch device 1 for vehicle comprises a resin housing 10, and a latch 30 that is housed in the resin housing 10 and rotatably supported by the resin housing 10 and has a metallic hook-like part 33 engageable with the bar-like part. The resin housing 10 is preferably formed in a box shape as two tray-like members (lower case 10A, upper case 10B) each having openings at one side are coupled at the openings.
