<p>A stable thermoplastic composition containing an oxymethylene polymer and carbon black is obtained by intimately mixing the carbon black with a thermoplastic polymer inert thereto and thereafter blending the mixture obtained with the oxymethylene polymer. Suitable thermoplastic polymers are polyolefine polyalkyl methacrylates, polytetrafluoroethylene and polychlorotrifluoroethylene. Carbon blacks used are preferably channel blacks and furnace blacks, the particles of which have been agglomerated with water to form particles having a diameter between 0.01 and 0.03 inch. The oxymethylene polymers are preferably copolymers of formaldehyde with cyclic ethers, e.g. ethylene oxide. The compositions may also contain stabilizers, e.g. cyano guanidine and 2,21-methylene bis-(4-methyl-6-t.-butyl phenol).</p> |
