<p>A blood vessel wall tracking unit (7) tracks the beat-associated motion of a blood vessel wall (V) on the basis of a received signal that is obtained by sending an ultrasound beam from an ultrasound probe (1) to a blood vessel in a subject and receiving the ultrasound beam; then a beat timing determination unit (8) detects the beat-associated periodic change for each of sound rays (L1) to (L32) on the basis of the motion of the blood vessel wall (V) which has been tracked in the blood vessel wall tracking unit (7), and also determines the detected times as beat timing candidates for the sound rays (L1) to (L32); and then each of the beat timing candidates for the sound rays (L1) to (L32) is statistically analyzed within a one-beat period. In this manner, a beat timing can be determined.</p> |
