Carbon aerogels, method for their manufacture and application thereof

<p>Carbon aerogel with an average particle size of less than 1 mu m, is claimed. An independent claim is included for the preparation of the carbon aerogel comprising contacting mono- and/or polyhydroxybenzene, an aldehyde and a catalyst in a reactor at 75-200[deg] C and at a pressure of 80-2400 kPa; subsequently injecting the reaction mixture into an acid; drying the resulting product, and carbonizing.</p>
