PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that accumulation state of paper sheets accumulated in an accumulation box is disordered when accumulating the paper sheets, and a jam is caused during the accumulation.SOLUTION: A paper sheet accumulating device includes detecting means for detecting the thickness of the paper sheets accumulated in the accumulation box, and accumulation means for accumulating the paper sheets in the accumulation box. The accumulation means has a shoot for shooting the paper sheets toward a first height in the wall surface of the accumulation box, calculates the accumulation amount of the paper sheets in the accumulation box on the basis of a thickness of the paper sheets detected by the detecting means, and controls the shoot so as to shoot the paper sheets toward a second height in the wall surface of the accumulation box when the calculated accumulation amount reaches a first threshold.
