PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-heat-resistance engineering plastic which uses biomass-originated sugar or protocatechuic acid originated from recycled resins.SOLUTION: A monomer for polyester resin polymerization is a high-heat-resistance engineering plastic and a reaction product of protocatechuic acid with epichlorohydrin, and the protocatechuic acid is originated from biomass-originated sugar or resin decomposition products. A polyester resin produced by polymerization using the monomer for polyester resins is also provided. The epichlorohydrin is preferably one obtained from glycerol, and the glycerol is preferably one obtained by ester exchange of biological oil and fat. |
