PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new X-ray inspection device which can solve the problems of conventional devices in which detection accuracy is deteriorated and an X-ray inspection chamber is polluted due to adhesion of fragments and the like cut and scattered to an X-ray irradiation port and a detection window or the like of an X-ray detector, and pieces that cannot be used for a product are produced by cutting an article by a fixed quantity.SOLUTION: An article division pretreatment method comprises: a process of acquiring mass of an article from an X-ray transmission image obtained by irradiating the article with an X-ray while conveying the article; a process of designating a way of dividing the article; a process of specifying the cutting position for dividing the article on the basis of the specified way of dividing and the acquired mass of the article; and a process of feeding the article to a downstream cutting device by associating the article with information on the specified cutting position.
