PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of determining a thickness reduction state of a border portion 34 of a structure 30 that is partially buried in a foundation part such as the ground without performing a complicated work such as digging of the ground.SOLUTION: The method provided includes: a step of setting a measurement probe 20 on a surface of the foundation part such as the ground in a posture in which a central axis of an excitation coil is inclined at a specific inclination angle such that the central axis of the excitation coil is oriented to a border portion 34, and in this state, causing a pulse current to flow through the excitation coil to form an eddy current on the surface of the border portion 34; a step of chronologically detecting a strength of the eddy current to identify a duration time of the eddy current; and a step of determining the thickness reduction state in the border portion 34 by the comparison between the identified duration time and reference data relating to the duration time of the eddy current, which is previously obtained for a sound part at the same specific inclination angle. |
