A swing door actuating mechanism operated by either a foot pad or by photo-electric cell means comprises a piston 24 which is slidable within a cylinder 22 and transmits rotary motion to a door drive spigot 10. Through a flexible connection in the form of a series of balls 26 or rollers guided in tracks (320 Fig. 7) and abutting against a vertical face 20 of a cam 16 integral with the door spigot, the cam engaging a roller 40 to compress springs 56, 58. When the door is opened the cylinder and piston arrangement 24, 22 is made inoperative ,by means of the micro-switch 60 and the door is urged to the closed position by means of ,the springs 56, 58. The piston may be either hydraulically or pneumatically operated or may ,be the plunger of a solenoid. |
