PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar lighting device which enables various lighting.SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, a planar lighting device includes: a support medium 12; multiple point light sources which are disposed on the support medium so as to be arranged in a linear fashion; and a sheet-like light guide plate 18 having an incident end surface facing the point light sources and an emission surface which emits light; and a fixing member which is attached to the support medium and fixes an incident end surface side end part of the light guide plate. The light guide plate extends from the support medium and forms a planar light emitting part.
