PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required before completion of identification in a temperature region in which identification is not completed.SOLUTION: An auxiliary transmission includes a Low brake 32 controlled using function characteristics specified by parameter values (α, &bgr;); a High clutch 33; and a Rev brake 34. A continuously variable transmission including this auxiliary transmission comprises a transmission controller 12 determining unknown parameter values by dividing an entire region from a low temperature side to a high temperature side into a plurality of ATF oil temperature regions for the parameter values (α, &bgr;) specifying the function characteristics and executing a parameter identification control based on initial parameter values (α, &bgr;) set per AFT oil temperature region. If completing the identification in one ATF oil temperature region, the transmission controller 12 rewrites the initial parameter values in the other ATF oil temperature regions not completed with the identification on the basis of differences &Dgr;α and &Dgr;&bgr; between the initial parameter values (α, &bgr;) in the ATF oil temperature region completed with the identification and identified parameter values (α, &bgr;). |
