PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact zoom lens capable of correcting chromatic aberration, spherical aberration, coma aberration, and the like, in a good balance and capable of obtaining good optical characteristics in an entire zoom area.SOLUTION: A zoom lens comprises, in order from an object side to an image side: a first lens group B1 having positive refractive power; a second lens group B2 having negative refractive power; and a subsequent lens group LR including a lens group having positive refractive power. The lens groups are moved for zooming so that a space between the first lens group and the second lens group becomes wider at a telephoto end than at a wide angle end. The first lens group has at least one negative lens. The zoom lens appropriately sets a focal length of a material of at least the one negative lens and an Abbe number and a partial dispersion ratio represented as &ngr;d1n, &thetas;gF1n, respectively. |
