PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the accuracy and reproducibility of a character string search.SOLUTION: A character search device pertaining to the present embodiment includes a feature extraction unit, and a determination unit, and an integration unit. The extraction unit extracts the feature value of an image that includes one more or character strings. The determination unit determines, for each of a plurality of different character detection schemes, the order of priority corresponding to the accuracy of character detection on an image area having the feature corresponding to the feature value. The integration unit integrates character row candidates for each character detection scheme that are the result of detecting the character string using each of the plurality of character detection schemes and are candidates for an area that includes the character string, and, when the degree of overlapping indicating a proportion of the areas that overlap between the character row candidates is greater than or equal to a first threshold, selects the character row candidate detected by the character detection scheme whose order of priority is highest, as a character row. |
