PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a carbon nanotube-metal nanocomposite by a chemical route; and the development of strong, flexible, light weight, self-supporting anode through a simple vacuum filtration technique, which is favored by the high aspect ratio of multi-walled carbon nanotubes, corresponding to the carbon nanotubes-metal nano composite.SOLUTION: A self-supporting anode has an added advantage that it can be used as electrodes without a binder and an electrical conductor (unlike other carbonaceous powder materials) and helps us to elucidate precise electrochemical characteristics. Metals used can be Sn, Si, Al, etc. A developed high capacity, self-supporting anode can be used in rechargeable Li-ion batteries and is demonstrated successfully in powering a solar lantern. |
