The present invention relates to a mobile terminal capable of controlling a function only by tapping a terminal body and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal includes: a mobile terminal body; a display unit disposed on the front surface of the body; a detection unit detecting a plurality of taps at the display unit; and a control unit releasing a locking state of restricting reception of a control command based on a touch pattern formed by the taps. The touch pattern is defined by locations where the taps are detected and time intervals between the detected taps. |
