PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber laser device that can inexpensively and efficiently process a workpiece without reduction of the productivity while keeping low output.SOLUTION: A fiber laser device 100 has an amplification optical fiber 10 capable of amplifying a laser beam, exciting light sources 20A, 20B for supplying exciting light to the amplifying optical fiber 10, an optical resonator 16 for oscillating the laser beam, a laser emitter 30 for emitting a laser beam oscillated by the optical resonator 16 to a workpiece, and a controller 60 for controlling current to be supplied to the exciting light sources 20A, 20B and controlling peak power of a giant pulse occurring when the exciting light sources 20A, 20B are started up. The giant pulse whose peak power is controlled is applied from the laser emitter 30 to the workpiece to increase the temperature of the workpiece, thereby increasing the absorption factor of the laser beam. |
