PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for an internal combustion engine which can use a plurality of types of fuel including CNG, for reducing the worsening of drivability and exhaust emissions resulting from a property change of the CNG.SOLUTION: The control system for the internal combustion engine which can use compressed natural gas and other fuel includes learning means for performing learning processing to learn the property of the compressed natural gas, and restricting means for allowing changeover from the other fuel into the compressed natural gas only in a predetermined medium-speed and medium-load region before the learning means finishes the learning processing.
