PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery in which gas generation due to a nonaqueous electrolyte can be suppressed even when the lithium secondary battery is repeatedly charged or operated at a high voltage, and a nonaqueous electrolyte.SOLUTION: A lithium secondary battery includes: a positive electrode including a positive electrode active material capable of absorbing and desorbing lithium in a high-voltage environment; a negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains a compound represented by the following general formula (I) or is added with the compound to be prepared. In the general formula (I), n represents an integer of 2-4, M represents SO or SOwhen n is 2, M represents B, P or P=O when n is 3, M represents Si when n is 4, and Rs each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a 1-12C hydrocarbon group, at least one of groups represented as R having a carbon-carbon triple bond. |
