The present invention relates to an apparatus for removing and recovering phosphorus and a method thereof. The apparatus for removing and recovering phosphorus comprises: a primary magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) reactor, to which a membrane filter is coupled, for inducing a primary MAP reaction which generates MAP crystals through a MAP reaction of combining dissolved phosphorus, ammonium, and magnesium existed in inflow waste water; a solubilization bath in which the MAP crystals, remaining in the primary MAP reactor, and sludge containing suspended solid (SS) and particulate materials are introduced, and to which a solubilization device for converting particulate phosphorus existed in the sludge containing the SS and particulate materials into dissolved phosphorus is coupled; a secondary MAP reactor in which the sludge, whose most particulate phosphorus are converted into the dissolved phosphorus by passing through the solubilization bath, and the MAP crystals are introduced together, and which grows the MAP crystals generated in the primary MAP reactor by inducing a second MAP reaction; and a recovery and separation device which filters the MAP crystals having a size equal to or greater than a predetermined size generated and grown through the primary and secondary MAP reactors. Accordingly, in the apparatus for removing and recovering phosphorus, the phosphorus component is not existed in effluent by achieving a closed circulation structure which circulates within a system, and thus there is no loss of the phosphorus component. In addition, the apparatus for removing and recovering phosphorus can grow the MAP crystals enough to be utilized as a fertilizer. |
