PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating device that enables simple switching from a first dimming mode to a second dimming mode different from the first dimming mode without using a dedicated light source for the second dimming mode, and that can improve user convenience and feeling of use.SOLUTION: An illuminating device 100 comprises a light-emitting element 52, a power supply part 40, and a controller 62 that controls brightness of the light-emitting element. The controller can control the brightness of the light-emitting element by a first dimming mode of dimming from a first lighting state where the brightness of the light-emitting element is the highest to a second lighting state darker than the first lighting state, and a second dimming mode of dimming from a third lighting state darker than the second lighting state to a fourth lighting state darker than the third lighting state. In the first dimming mode, in a case where a lighting state brighter than the second lighting state and in the immediate vicinity of the second lighting state is defined as a fifth lighting state, a first brightness variation amount from the second lighting state to the third lighting state is larger than a second brightness variation amount from the fifth lighting state to the second lighting state. |
