PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to control a primary transfer voltage to be applied to a primary transfer member, while reducing the size and cost of a high-voltage power supply to be mounted on the apparatus and simplifying device configuration.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus executes a first image-forming mode in which a toner image is transferred from all image carriers 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d to an intermediate transfer body 7, and a second image-forming mode in which the toner image is transferred from only a specific one of the image carriers 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d to the intermediate transfer body 7. Voltage output means 60 includes: a first voltage output section 61 which outputs a voltage of characteristics opposite to a regular charging polarity of toner, to all primary transfer means 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d; and a second voltage output section 62 which outputs a voltage of the same characteristics as the regular charging polarity of the toner, to the primary transfer means other than the primary transfer means 6d relating to the second image-forming mode. The first voltage output section 61 is connected between the second voltage output section 62 and a ground potential. |
