The present invention relates to a device to measure a cargo weight and a control method thereof. The present invention relates to an invention to prevent an overload in advance by displaying the cargo weight, which is measured by a measurement unit when the cargo loaded by a carrying vessel is unloaded, and a trestle weight on which the measured cargo is loaded using a driver seat display unit; accurately calculating the cargo weight loaded by being unloaded; and setting a safety weight of a crane and the trestle. More specifically, in accordance with the present invention, the device to measure the cargo weight comprises: a measurement unit installed in the crane, measuring the cargo weight which the crane unloads; a driver seat display unit displaying the cargo weight measured by the measurement unit, and installed in a driver seat of the crane; and a control unit receiving the cargo weight measured in the measurement unit, displaying a measured cargo weight in the driver seat display unit, enabling the unloaded cargo to be loaded on the trestle which an operator selects, and calculating an accumulated cargo weight accumulated in the selected trestle.
