The present invention relates to a lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a preparing method thereof. More specifically, the present invention can control the cross-section shape of a monofilament included in lyocell fibers to expand the outside surface area of the fibers and form crimps thereon. Accordingly, the lyocell material with the heterologous cross-section for the cigarette filter can exhibit excellent physical properties compared to a conventional lyocell material even when only a small amount is used.
