The preparation which can be used for the promotion of the proliferation of neural stem cells contains PQBP-1-encoding DNA comprising the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 or the like or a polypeptide encoded by the DNA or the like as an active ingredient. The preparation which can be used for the promotion of the formation of postsynapses contains PQBP-1-encoding DNA comprising the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 or the like or a polypeptide encoded by the DNA or the like as an active ingredient.
