The purpose of the present invention is to further reduce the consumption amount of lubricating oil while suppressing production costs, in an air-cooled single-cylinder engine. This air-cooled single-cylinder engine (12) includes: a fin section (54) having a plurality of fins provided to the outer surface of a cylinder body (21); and an oil flow section (50b) through which lubricating oil flows to the outside of a cylinder hole (50a), and which is formed in the cylinder body (21) in a peripheral range around a cylinder axis line (C1), said peripheral range being smaller than that of the fin section (54), and is provided is in a position closer to an exhaust passage (63) than an air-intake passage (62), in the peripheral direction around the cylinder axis line (C1). The air-cooled single-cylinder engine (12) is provided with an oil-evaporation-inhibiting section which inhibits evaporation of the lubricating oil at the inner wall surface of the cylinder hole (50a).
