PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of changing a distance between a scan unit and a manuscript platen according to a distance between the manuscript platen and a manuscript.SOLUTION: An image reader 100 includes: a manuscript platen 111 on which a manuscript is disposed; a scan unit 131 configured to scan the manuscript on the manuscript platen 111 by moving to a first direction (X axis direction); and a projection member 133 that is movably provided in a second direction (Z axis direction) intersecting with the manuscript platen 111 and moves in the first direction with the scan unit 131 while being depressed in the second direction against the manuscript on the manuscript platen 111. The scan unit 131 moves in the second direction along with the movement of the projection member 133 in the second direction. |
