A photoacoustic image generating device, a signal processing device, and a photoacoustic image generating method that, when photoacoustic images are used to make it possible to verify the position of an inserted object, improve the image quality of the photoacoustic images without reducing the number of photoacoustic images generated per unit time. A puncture needle (15) has a photoacoustic wave generating unit that absorbs light that is radiated from a laser unit (13) and generates photoacoustic waves. A photoacoustic image generating means (25) generates a photoacoustic image on the basis of detection signals for photoacoustic waves emitted from the puncture needle (15). A sound source position detecting means (30) detects the origin of the photoacoustic waves from the photoacoustic image. A first signal acquiring means (31) acquires an S value, and a second signal acquiring means (32) acquires an N value. On the basis of a comparison of the S value and the N value, a light-emission control means (33) controls the light-emission count and the light-emission interval of the laser unit (13) with regard to the generation of one photoacoustic image. The photoacoustic image generating means (25) adds at least as many photoacoustic wave detection signals as the light-emission count to generate the photoacoustic image. |
