Spherical nanoparticles for the treatment of bacteria are provided. The nanoparticles may be self-assembling particles having a core decorated by oligonucleotides and therapeutic pharmacophores. The nanoparticles are useful for prophylactic and therapeutic applications as well as research and diagnostic indications.
