PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for sustainingly releasing an active ingredient containing (a) an active ingredient, (b) a wax-like substance, and (c) a spheroidizing agent, and to provide a method for producing the same and a method for using the same.SOLUTION: The invention provides a sustained release composition which contains active ingredients, such as an analgesic, nutritional supplement substance, antiviral drug, antiinfective drug, antacid, and insect growth regulator; wax-like substances, such as fatty alcohol, saturated fatty acid ester, saturated fatty acid glyceride, hydrogenated vegetable oil, and cholesterol; and a spheroidizing agent which is microcrystal cellulose, is in a pellet form or oral dosage form, does not need sustained-release barrier coating, and can reduce the cost associated with barrier coating, a method for producing the same, and a method for treating or preventing diseases, such as pain, viral infection, and bacterial infection, using the same. |
