PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system capable of suppressing the reduction in a retaining force of a mat and maintaining a constant retaining force.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control system comprises: a columnar exhaust gas treatment body; a casing for accommodating therein the exhaust gas treatment body; and a mat inserted between the exhaust gas treatment body and the casing and formed of inorganic fibers. The exhaust emission control system is configured so that an outline of a cross-section of the exhaust gas treatment body perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the exhaust gas treatment body is constituted by three to six corner portions and connectors connecting the corner portions of the exhaust gas treatment body, the corner portions of the exhaust gas treatment body are curved, the connectors of the exhaust gas treatment body are either linear or curved, an outline of the casing perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the casing is constituted by corner portions and connectors as many as the corner portions and the connectors of the exhaust gas treatment body, respectively, and the connectors each include a bent portion that is a curve convex inward. |
