A dual-drive power-assisted steering system of a hybrid power vehicle and a control method. The dual-drive power-assisted steering system comprises a dual-drive hydraulic system and a control system, wherein the control system comprises a control module used for collecting a vehicle speed and an engine revolution speed, and the control module controls and is connected to a steering motor controller; the hydraulic system is composed of an HPS and an EHPS; and the flow of a power-assisted steering gear (14) is controlled by the total flow of the HPS and the EHPS, thereby achieving the efficient use of the power-assisted steering system. In addition, since the lower the speed of the complete vehicle, the larger the assisted power, which is required to turn a steering wheel and provided by the steering system; and the higher the speed of the complete vehicle, the smaller the assisted power, which is required to turn a steering wheel and provided by the steering system. The magnitude of the steering assisted power of the system of the present invention is determined by an actual condition, thereby achieving electronic power steering and demand power steering, and preventing a driver from having a waving feeling while turning a steering wheel, which is caused by the fact that a steering power-assisted drive mechanism provides redundant assisted power for the steering system while providing ease of control.
