An apparatus for detecting insider packet drop attacks according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a monitoring part which determines the number of the success and failure of packet transmission by monitoring the packet transmission activity of a neighbor node in a wireless sensor network; a thrust value measuring part which measures the thrust value of the neighbor node based on the number of the success and failure of the packet transmission; and an insider attacker determining part which determines whether the neighbor node is an insider packet drop attacker by comparing the thrust value of the neighbor node with a threshold value. If the number of the failure of the packet transmission is successively increased, the apparatus includes a sensor node where the decrement of the thrust value increases.
