PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the speed of touch detection of a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal display panel having a touch panel function, and improve reliability of an electrode for a touch panel formed on the outside of a glass substrate.SOLUTION: A first electrode 30 is formed on the outside of an opposing substrate 200 to extend in a first direction, and a second electrode extending in the direction perpendicular to the first direction is formed on the inside of a TFT substrate, so as for a liquid crystal display panel to have a touch panel function. The first electrode is made of metal or alloy; a protective film 210 is formed to cover the first electrode; grooves 50 are formed on the outside of a first substrate between the edges of the protective film and the first electrode in parallel to the sides of the first substrate. |
