PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black iron oxide which makes it possible to obtain sufficient levels of blackness, conceal-ability and covering power even when a small amount of it is used in cosmetics.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a black iron oxide that is high in coloring power, the black iron oxide having an octahedron shape with a specific surface of 8.0-20.0 m/g, where the particle surface is covered with a layer comprising at least one or two or more inorganic compounds, the pale color L*value is 31.0 or less, and the pale color b*value is 1.5 or less. The present invention also relates to a production method of the black iron oxide and cosmetics comprising the same. |
