The non-ionic molecule has a polar portion and a non-polar portion.

a device body including a cell; a dielectric layer disposed in the cell and having a hydrophobic surface; an electrode configured to polarize the dielectric layer; and a non-polar liquid disposed on the hydrophobic surface in the cell and a polar liquid non-miscible with the non-polar liquid, wherein the non-polar liquid contains a colored material, and the polar liquid contains non-ionic molecules having a polar portion and a non-polar portion.
