1. A method of disinfecting a surface, comprising: contacting a surface with an antimicrobial composition, said antimicrobial composition comprising:
a) a layered hydrous magnesium silicate having binding sites in said dispersed phase; and b) a quaternary ammonium compound in said dispersed phase;wherein said quaternary ammonium compound is loaded into said layered hydrous magnesium silicate clay with a percentage loading relative to available layered hydrous magnesium silicate clay binding sites of greater than 200%.
